Pain that is untreated or poorly managed can wreck your life. But you don’t have to use dangerous narcotics for relief – experts say hypnosis can help you with NO side effects or downside.
- “If hypnosis were a drug, everyone would be using it,” says Dr. David Spiegel, a psychiatrist at Stanford University. “Changing your mental set (with hypnotism) can change what’s going on in your body.”
- Katherine Bowman, from the Pain Management Center at the University of California at San Francisco, agrees. She suggests using relaxation, guided visualization and hypnosis for chronic pain. (Note: Hypnosis, by definition, is relaxing, and guided visualization is a tool within a tool, often used by hypnotists to enhance results).
- The respected and comprehensive health site, Web MD, points out that researchers have subjected hypnosis to the scrutiny of clinical trials in studies of pain control and management dating back 30 years to 1979 with impressive results.
Hypnosis, says Web MD, effectively and successfully has been used for acute and chronic pain stemming from surgery, cancer, kidney stones, back conditions and invasive medical and dental procedures.
- The journal Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine reports hypnosis can change the way the brain processes pain signals, reducing the brain activity devoted to feelings of distress even while the pain sensations continue to be received.
- Stephanie Moses says: Let’s talk about your pain – or that of a loved one – and explore a course of hypnotic therapy.
Your consultation is free and you are under no obligation. And, of course, your privacy is assured.
